Base Camp

“Okay, now remember to take slow, careful strokes.  Yeah, that’s it, you got it!”  Mr. Dawson smiled at me as I slowly shaved my host body’s face.  “You’re a natural at this.  I think you might be ready to move on to the next stage of the program!”

I couldn’t help but be excited.  My species has slowly been assimilating itself into human society, though we discovered very quickly that one untrained operative had the potential to ruin everything.  So we set up a base camp, with humans whose free will had been broken long ago, so that new operatives could learn basic human tasks in a safe environment.

I’ll admit, it had been a rough few weeks.  And yeah, I had an accident or two.  (Did you know that humans must use special rooms to alleviate waste?)  But I was finally confident I had what it takes to be a human, and I’m glad that my boss agrees.

Mr. Dawson led me outside to the back yard, where there were two young men standing naked and unconscious in front of me.  “Take your pick,” he said, smiling at me.  “We obtained them at a bar last night.  We’ll keep a steady eye on you for the first few weeks, but… this will be your first non-shared body.  Congratulations.”

I crawled out of my current host- months of constant possession meant he didn’t even struggle as I left.  I leaped onto the shoulder on the one on the left, and tensed part of my body into a thin tendril.  Once I had managed to open up a part of the ear canal, I pressed the rest of the way inside, remembering to re-heal my entry point like I’d been taught.

“This feels great!” I said, running my hands through my curly hair, and rubbing my well-defined chest.  I started to wrap myself around the wrinkles and folds of the host brain, pulling out the information I’d need to blend into human society.  “I am going to love being Aiden!”
